Four Social Media Tips For New Yoga Teachers

If you are just getting started as a yoga teacher, then there are so many different things to consider and give your attention to. One of the things that should be high up your priority list is how you market your yoga business across social media.

Utilising the potential of social media will be essential as you build your business, and this is especially the case if you teach solely online.

There are so many great ways to reach people for free on social media, with the additional option to pay for adverts to enhance your audience. However, there is no need to have a social media budget if you are confident in your ability to market your brand organically.

Today I am going to share four simple tips to improve your social media strategy as a new yoga teacher!

1.Be Authentic

As a yoga teacher, you are the face of your very own brand. When you market your classes, you are effectively marketing yourself and your skills.

Presenting yourself in a consistent way to your audience is a great way for people to truly get a feel for who you are. This will help you to attract the students that are going to be a good fit for your classes.

If you aren’t authentic online, then your online persona and your real-life persona won’t be a match. And, this is something your students will pick up on when you are teaching.

Maintaining your authenticity when you are selling yourself on social media is key for building a consistent image. When you are authentic, you never have to think about how you are presenting yourself, because it is simply your natural personality and attitude.

2.Find Your Platforms

With so many different places to market your yoga brand, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by all of the noise.

Trying to conquer too many platforms at once can leave you feel over-stretched. And, this can also mean that you don’t get off to a good start with any of them.

Facebook and Instagram are arguably the best two places to focus your energy when you are starting out. By creating profiles on each of these platforms, you can then set about uploading your content and putting your voice out into the world.

Which leads me on to my next point….

3.Create Content

There’s no use in having a social media presence if you are not going to use it!

Creating content for your social media platforms should be on your to-do list every week. If you are able to produce something more than once a week then that’s great. However, this is a good goal when you are just getting started.

You may want to share photos, videos, blog posts, or words of advice. These are things that you can learn to create by yourself.


You can also use your social media platforms to share your teaching schedule, and to give any news-worthy updates on what you’re up to!

As you build your business, you will be able to see where interest in your business is coming from, and which types of posts are attracting the most attention. This can take some getting used to, but with a little bit of research you’ll be a pro in no time.

4.Build Your Community

Engaging with your followers is the very best way to build your community!

Connecting with the people who want to connect with you is a great way to reinforce your authenticity. It shows your current and future students that you value their presence, and that you are invested in their progression.

So be sure to reply to comments and be open to receiving feedback if it is offered to you. You can also invite your followers to engage with you directly by utilising Facebook Live or Instagram Live. This is a chance for people to talk to you in real-time, and to find out exciting information from you.

Don’t be put off if it takes a while to build traction on your social platforms. This is something that takes time, and you likely won’t be instantly racking up those likes and comments. This is a long-term investment in the future of your business!
