The topics covered include:

Module 1

History and Philosophy

Study the Origins of Yin, the concepts of qi, Yin in Asana and the 5 Vayus.

Module 2

Meridians, Chakras and Koshas

After a meridian overview, continue with more in depth study of the 7 Chakras and 5 Koshas. Apply this knowledge in the Yin yoga teaching and sequencing.

Module 3

Anatomy and Physiology

Learn the 14 skeletal segments and 10 muscle groups and how they work together with tension, compression, connective tissue and the importance of fascia in Yin yoga.

Module 4

Yin Yoga Poses

An in depth study and the functional alignment of the 7 archetype Yin poses, plus the physical and energetic benefit of each pose. Learn how to stretch the target area, the duration of hold and the ‘edge’ in Yin yoga, plus the rebound and its function.

Module 5

Teaching Yin Yoga

Communication, voice and proper instructions are key to teaching Yin yoga. Plus, a closer look at customized sequences and the use of props.

Who is Whole Self Yoga Accredited with?

This Online 30-Hour Whole Self Yoga course is Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YACEP) certified which you can add to your RYT teaching hours.

Can I do the course if I’m pregnant?

Our advice would be to wait after the birth of your baby.

When can I start teaching Yin Yoga?

You can begin teaching upon completion of the course.

What happens if I’m working with an injury?

Depending on the nature of your injury, you may want to contact us during the application process to assess whether your injury will impact your participation.

How do I apply?

Who teaches on the course?

Julie Montagu and Emily Mergaert are the lead trainers and oversee the entire programme.

What happens if I want to leave the course?

Transfer to another course is not allowed except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Julie Montagu.

Do I need to be a certain level of yoga in order to do the teacher training?

No. This course is open to all yoga teachers and practitioners who want to deepen their knowledge of the Yin practice.
