Becoming An Online Yoga Teacher

Teaching yoga is such an incredible way to turn a passion into a job. It allows you to combine your love of doing yoga with the pleasure of imparting this wisdom to other people!

In the current job market, you may feel as though teaching yoga isn’t the best choice for you right now. With guidance relating the pandemic changing around the world all the time, it’s difficult to know for sure when yoga classes will be able to totally get back to normal. That’s why today I want to talk to you about the exciting prospect of becoming an online yoga teacher!

Online Yoga Teacher

Being an online yoga teacher is a fantastic alternative to teaching in-person classes. It allows you to guide students from all around the world, and also means that your physical presence does not have to be restricted. You can set up your online studio from absolutely anywhere, and it can move around the world as you do.

This is particularly helpful for the world we currently live in, and can also be advantageous for a number of other reasons.

Being able to teach yoga from your own home means you will not have to spend money hiring studio space, or pay for any of the associated costs that go with doing this, such as insurance. Doing so also means you save time travelling to and from the studio for each lesson.

Although there are obviously benefits to teaching students in person too, you may likely find that teaching online at first better suits your budget and your schedule.

Yoga Teacher Training

Before you get started as an online yoga teacher, you will of course need to qualify as one!

Having a qualification that is certified by Yoga Alliance will show potential students that they can trust you as a teacher. It demonstrates that you have put the work in and gained the knowledge to guide others through their yoga journey.

In-person trainings are currently suspended, but you can still qualify as a yoga teacher with an online course. Yoga Alliance has announced that online courses may continue to operate until December 31st this year, so there’s still time to gain your qualification from home!

Last week on my blog, I explained Five Reasons Why Online Yoga Teacher Training Is A Good Choice — and you can click now to read more on that.

Starting Your Business

Once you have your qualification, you will then need to go about setting up your business. This is something I explain in great detail within my e-learning course — Build Your Yoga Brand.

There are several different things to consider and different ways to go about this, so it’s always a good idea to absorb as much information as you can.

When you are getting started, it is so important to remember that the more you put into your business now, the better prepared you will feel. This can help to boost your confidence and to give yourself a greater deal of trust in the process.

Building An Online Presence

Developing your presence online can be one of the more challenging things about being an online yoga teacher.

As with teaching yoga out in the world, it can be a competitive industry. However, by discovering your niche and finding creative ways to stand out, you can soon get noticed and start getting students.

If you don’t yet know what it is that will help you to stand out from the crowd, then take some time to contemplate this. Figure out what interests you most about yoga — and also about the associated concepts, such as health and nutrition — and then put together a solid plan for how you will present yourself.

It’s so much better to be totally prepared before you get started, so that you can be consistent in your brand and with your message.

Expand Your Services

Teaching yoga online is a fantastic way to connect with students all around the globe, but there are also other ways you can expand your business. Offering live classes is likely going to be your main source of income as you get started, but you may want to consider additional ideas.

Creating yoga videos for YouTube — and other video streaming platforms — is a good way to develop your presence. When you make these videos, then you are sharing content that anybody can enjoy for free at any time. This means their schedule does not have to align with yours for them to learn from you. Furthermore, this is a fantastic way for you to advertise your services to a wider audience.

You may also want to offer one on one consultations and classes, so that your students can connect with you on a deeper level. This is not only a good opportunity for them to get to know you, but also for you to build your bond with them.

During my Whole Self Yoga Teacher Training, I will equip you with the knowledge you need to become an amazing yoga teacher — regardless of if you wish to teach online or out in the real world.

This 200-hour training is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about yourself and the kind of yoga teacher you want to be!
