Green Acai Berry Bowl

green acai bowl

Green Smoothies were all the rage last year but for 2014, there’s a new Superhero in town called the BOWL!  Yup, the bowl is prettier and can be decorated easier than a boring glass.  So, here’s a twist on the green smoothie:  The Green Acai Berry Bowl.

Trust me, it’s much easier to get your kids to eat this when it’s in a bowl and decorated with pure goodness.

Green Acai Berry Bowl

It’s so quick and easy to make!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana (frozen is good if you want it nice and cold!)
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 3 dates (pitted)
  • 1 pear
  • large handful of spinach
  • 1 teaspoon of acai powder (or more if you fancy!)

For the topping:

Well, you can add just about anything you like.  For this post, I added blueberries, coconut flakes and bee pollen!  Yum!

Method:

To make this bowl, simply blitz everything together in your blender and serve in a bowl. You can then add your desired toppings and enjoy!

The Acai Berry

The acai berry is one of the healthiest berries you will ever find!

This antioxidant-rich fruit has been tooted for centuries as a healing, immune-stimulating, energy-boosting fruit.  Hurray!  A foreign relative of the blueberry and cranberry, studies have shown that this antioxidant-rich berry may be able to help in the prevention of diseases associated with oxidative damage, not to mention many other health benefits like digestion and weight loss!

I’m all over this berry!

  1. hi gorgeous girl, that looks yummy! instead of banana I would throw in an avocado for creaminess texture! I’m all for thick pudding style drinks!! as long as you are putting everything in a blender I might add my usual duo of ginger & lemon as well for a vitamin C kick!!

  2. I’m glad I found this, well after you found my blog. Thank you for that…
So my question is where is the best resource to get acai, either in powder or other form? I had been getting MonaVie bottles, but I’m always looking for another route that might be more efficient or cost effective. So I’m essentially asking what’s the best source of acai that we can get here in the States?
Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. May God’s grace extend through you to many in this.

  3. Julie I wanted to thank you, went to see your site and was lost in your beautiful diet tips, your beautiful face, aura, and wisdom. And wanted to share this funny insightful doc. where the man said the cow was the biggest footprint baddie, because not only did it eat all the grass , more, leading to eventual mudslides but it rottenized the air cuz it farted methan bombs. worst than the gas pollutants. Wow .
Mcdonalds’ may be easy and quick
but the end results make the Universe sick
Listen to Julie she’s got the trick!.

  4. I have been looking for a recipe for an Acai bowl! In college… I lived on these things. A touch of granola on top for some crunch and fresh fruit, and possibly a drizzle of honey if you have a sweet tooth! Adding dates or avocado would be amazing as well! Thank you for this recipe!

  5. What an amazing website and blog you have going on, congratulations on that! I will be frequenting more often. I went 85% plant based a little over a year ago, well that is when I cook, I’m not too strict about it, hence the 85% 😉 Recently I dipped my toes in learning the ways of yoga, it’s such a challenge, especially for someone as stiff as me, but I’m excited to see how it will affect me, body and mind.

  6. I really enjoy this blog. Keep up the good work. I love food, but always choose unhealthy. I have just started doing Weight Watchers and joined a gym and feel GREAT! But one day I would like to do yoga *sigh*
