My Five Favorite Things About Being A Yoga Teacher

Becoming a yoga teacher is hands down one of the best decisions I have ever made.

This is a job that is always evolving, and always teaching me new things — both about yoga and about myself!

If this a path that you are considering, then I would love to share more about my experience to hopefully show you how fantastic being a yoga teacher can be. If you are already teaching yoga, but are lacking motivation, then I hope that the following read will serve to inspire and get you excited about yoga again!

1.Community

This is one of the very best things about being a yoga teacher, and is also something that students of yoga will enjoy too.

When you join a class as a student, then you are also becoming part of a community of like-minded people. This is so helpful for enabling you to feel supported as you progress, and can also enhance your experience in a number of other ways.

One of the fantastic things about teaching yoga, is that you are helping to create this community for other people. Your classes and your workshops will become moments of each day that your students look forward to. They will be opportunities for people to connect, make new friends, and strengthen existing bonds.

2.Knowledge

Becoming a yoga teacher is never going to be the end of your yoga education!

You will never stop learning, and you will never stop enjoying the fresh challenges that your practice throws at you.

This never-ending knowledge quest is one of my absolute favorite things about being a yoga teacher. I love the feeling of discovering something new, and then being able to share this new knowledge with my students at the appropriate time.

3.Making A Difference

I always end every class that I teach knowing that I have made a difference to someone’s day. I have perhaps helped them to progress in their practice — to reach that next level of what they are working towards. Or, on the other hand, I have simply helped them to unwind and shed the stress of the day.

Being able to lift someone else up in this way is a great feeling for me, and as a yoga teacher, it’s something I get to enjoy with each and every class.

My students will often tell me about how the classes are benefiting them, and the lessons they are extending into other ares of their lives. When we are able to take the things we learn on the mat out into our day to day experiences, then the power of yoga truly becomes apparent!

4.Doing Yoga

It may sound so obvious, but one of the best things about being a yoga teacher is being able to do yoga literally all of the time!

When you are teaching yoga to other people every day, then you are also strengthening your own practice. As I said before, yoga teachers never stop learning, and this is as true of the physical practice as it is the philosophy behind it.

If being on the yoga mat is your favorite place to be, then becoming a yoga teacher is certainly a great decision for you. And what’s more, this enthusiasm and passion for what you do will 100% shine through into your lessons.

Teachers who LOVE yoga undoubtedly make the very best teachers. This is because they are dedicated to what they do, and they always want to do it well. So, if you take great pleasure in doing yoga, then you will inevitably be making yourself happy by being able to do it all of the time!

5.Compassion

When you first start teaching yoga you will yourself be getting a lesson in compassion.

As a teacher, you will be responsible for guiding your students through their practice, and helping them develop in so many ways. This isn’t always going to be a smooth journey, and so many different struggles and problems may present.

By becoming a more compassionate person, you will be better equipped emotionally to deal with these issues, and to provide the best solutions.

This compassion is something that you will then take with you in other areas of your life, and into your relationships with friends and family. It can make you a happier person, and someone who feels much better able to deal with all kinds of difficult situations and challenging people.
