Five Energising Toast Toppings!

Five Energising Toast Toppings!

Today I am sharing with you five amazingly energising toppings that you can serve on toast! This is a super simple but super tasty way to keep your strength up throughout the day as you can enjoy this at any time!

Before we get into the recipes for my energising toast toppings, I also just want to mention how much fun I had recently visiting Ireland for the first time!

I was over in Ireland for Wellfest where I got to teach yoga to 200 incredible people! This energetic festival is Irelands largest health, fitness, and wellness festival and it takes place every year. It is a chance for everyone to come together with world-class wellness professionals, as well as fitness brands, mental health advocates and healthy food fanatics – and it was such an honour and a blast to be included!

Whilst I was at Wellfest, I was teaching yoga in the BFree Foods tent, as I am currently their brand ambassador for the year! If you haven't seen the amazing range of allergen free foods that this company has created, then be sure to head to their website to have a browse around. Keeping my energy up for this event – and every other time that I'm teaching yoga – is always something that I do with the help of a range of healthy snacks.

Back to my Five Energising Toast Toppings! Each of these recipes contains a special ingredient that will give you a serious energy boost! You can watch below and then keep scrolling down for the recipes!

Turmeric Hummous

  • 1 x tin of chickpeas, drained
  • 1 tsp of tumeric
  • 1 Tbsp of tahini
  • 2 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper

Whizz in food processor until creamy. Serve on toasted BFree Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf or Soft White Sandwich Loaf.

A quick word about turmeric! Curcumin is the main active ingredient of turmeric and it has powerful anti-inflammatory effects! Curcumin is a very strong antioxidant and I suggest that you always use black pepper when cooking or eating turmeric to help it absorb into the body.

Walnut Pesto

  • 50g of fresh basil
  • 4 Tbsp of olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • A good handful of walnuts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Whizz in food processor until well mixed. Serve on toasted BFree Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf or Soft White Sandwich Loaf.

A quick word about walnuts! Walnuts are the only nut to contain plant based omega-3 fats and also contain several unique and powerful antioxidants that are only available in a few commonly eaten foods.

Olive & Artichoke Tapenade

  • 15-20 pitted black olives, drained and rinsed
  • 6 artichoke halves, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp of smoked paprika
  • 2 Tbsp of olive oil

Whizz in food processor until well combined. Serve on toasted BFree Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf or Soft White Sandwich Loaf.

Energising Toast Toppings Whole Self Yoga

A quick word about paprika! Paprika is great for your skin because of the intense colour. When we think of youth and radiance, we think of fruits and veggies that are brightly coloured. Their incredible health benefits largely come from the carotenoids that they contain which fight off free radicals AND paprika contains these same carotenoids too. Look at the colour!

Corn & Red Pepper Salsa

  • 1 x small tin of corn, drained and rinsed
  • 1 red pepper, roasted and then de-seeded
  • 1 Tbsp. chia seeds
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

Mix in food processor until chunky. Serve on toasted BFree Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf or Soft White Sandwich Loaf.

A quick word about chia seeds! Chia Seeds equal sustainable energy. They may be small but they are mighty and chia is the ancient Mayan word for strength. Despite their size, chia seeds are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet – packed with fibre, protein and omega-3’s plus a host of micro nutrients

Mint Bruschetta

  • 4 medium sized tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • A small handful of mint leaves, torn
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, red onion, olive oil and mint. Serve on toasted BFree Brown Seeded Sandwich Loaf or Soft White Sandwich Loaf.

A quick word about mint! Mint is a soothing and calming herb and has been used for thousands of year to help with an upset stomach or indigestion.
